INTER_SECTION #3.2 - Borrowed Gesture

For Borrowed Gesture, the intermedial duo INTER_SECTION, Claudia Schmitz & Sabine Ercklentz, invites a non-human actor, the "contingent third party", to create a joint audiovisual real-time performance.

The "Third" – a custom-made algorithm – controls three pneumatic sculptures and operates between the intentions of the performers. In this way, they are constantly confronted with new, surprising situations that are triggered by their own actions, but cannot be controlled by them.
